How to get the glowy, ‘Outer Banks’ inspired makeup look for Spring Break

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and the new season of “Outer Banks” has us all ready for summer.

While we’re not quite there yet, makeup artist Olivia Sparks is showing us how to get ahead of the game and achieve the bronzy, ‘no makeup’ makeup look just in time for Spring Break.

Olivia’s easy steps for an Outer Banks inspired makeup look:

1. For the most natural looking tan, I love to use Norvell’s Venetian Line of self tanners. This line is violet based to cancel out orange or yellow tones in typical self tanners. Norvell’s Venetian formula comes in a gradual daily lotion, a mist, or a mousse. I prefer the mousse version on my face and body. For best results, apply your self tanner at bedtime, wear loose pajamas to bed, and rinse off the tanner the next morning in the shower. Get it on Amazon for $30.00 on Amazon.

2. After you’ve bronzed your body, it’s time for makeup! I like to use a radiant primer like Loreal Lumi Glotion in shade ‘Medium’ on my cheeks and nose as a bronzing base for tinted sunscreen. If you’re naturally a tan to deep skin tone, the shade ‘Deep’ would be perfect for you! Get it for $12.00 at Amazon or Target.

3. Apply a tinted sunscreen in SPF30 or higher. My favorite is SkinBetter’s ToneSmart Lotion. It adapts to your skin tone, and gives you a light, glowy coverage with sun protection! You can only get SkinBetter products from licensed estheticians and medical spas, and their sunscreens are top notch! The ToneSmart Lotion is $75.00 at The Tailored Aesthetic in Huntsville.

4. Everyone knows I’m a huge fan of monochromatic looks! That basically means using one pop of color for eyes, lips, and cheeks. For the most natural summer flush, choose a shade of coral or pink that resembles the way your skin looks when you get a sunburn. My favorite is Nudestix Nudies Bloom All Over Dewy Color stick in shade ‘Bohemian Rose’. These multi-purpose sticks come in several different shades, and each is $35.00 at Sephora. I like to apply the stick to my fingers to warm up the product, then you can press onto your cheeks, eyes, and lips. It also includes a brush applicator for easy blending!

5. Last, always apply a waterproof mascara if you’re heading to the beach or the pool! My favorite waterproof formula is the Maybelline Sky High Waterproof Mascara, which is $10.00 at Target!
