Who's ready to eat?!
BBQ fans, food fans, listen up! WhistleStop BBQ Festival is back! The annual BBQ competition is back with over 100 cooks ready to battle it out at the grill.
WhistleStop returns to the Rocket City August 13 – 14 at John Hunt Park in Huntsville. This year, barbecue competitors will be “cooking for STEM” as funds raised will go to science, technology, engineering and mathematics initiatives at EarlyWorks Children’s Museum.
Amateurs will serve up chicken and ribs, while the professionals will showcase their best chicken, pork, ribs and beef brisket to see who will be proclaimed the winner.
There are some new twists this year as well. It’s not just the professionals who are judging, YOU can put your money where your mouth is this year and give the BBQ a try.
Friday from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., the public can enjoy smoked wings and vote for their favorite. Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. guests can test out the pulled pork in the People’s Choice competition, and if they like what they taste, you can throw a couple of bucks in the cooker’s bucket — the team with the most money takes home the bragging rights!
The festival is open August 13 from 4 p.m. – 11 p.m. and August 14 from 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. at John Hunt Park. Tickets are $10 per day and parking is available for $5 with access off Leaman Ferry Road.
