Who ya gonna call? ‘Ghostbusters’ returns to theaters for 35th anniversary

If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, grab a bag of Stay-Puft Marshmallows and get ready for some slime! 2019 marks the 35th anniversary of “Ghostbusters.”

Fathom Events presents “Ghostbusters” on the big screen in theaters nationwide on Sunday, Oct. 6 and Thursday, Oct. 10. Showtimes are at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on both days.

Leave your unlicensed nuclear accelerator backpacks at home though.

Tickets are available now online or visit the Gatekeeper (box office) at your local participating cinema. In the New Orleans area, AMC Elmwood Palace 20 will host the showing.

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Rick Moranis star in this crazy tale of chasing down ghostly oddities in New York City. When demons possess two  apartment neighbors (Weaver and Moranis), the team takes on a supernatural invasion of biblically fluffy proportions. Will they save the world?

It won’t be a figment of your imagination when you witness a new introduction with newly unearthed and rarely seen alternate takes. Plus, key members of the cast will come together to share the memories of making this pop-culture phenomenon.

The Ghostbusters franchise spawned a sequel in 1989, a cartoon series in 1986, and a reboot in 2016. A new film is in production now for a 2020 release.

For true Ghostbusters fans, there’s a virtual reality experience called Dimension at The VOID.

Get into the spooky Halloween spirit and enjoy the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters with all of the slime filled hilarity at your local cinema.  It’s okay to go because “We ain’t afraid of no ghosts!” and remember the one thing you can’t do while busting ghosts… don’t cross the streams.
