HUNSTVILLE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY WEEKEND) - Candies Con Fuego is a candy company in Huntsville that makes sweet treats with a little extra kick,
We wanted to try them out for ourselves so we got some of the most popular things on the menu to see if the 48 Newsroom could handle the heat.
We started out with the Volcano Whiskey cake which is a rich chocolate cake with chocolate chips and a Jameson Whiskey glaze. This cake is labeled mild to moderate heat and had many of us reaching for another piece.
Next, we tried the Spicy Pecan Pralines. As someone who grew up near Savannah, Georgia where the sweet smell of warm pralines meets you at the door of every candy store in town, I have to admit I was skeptical to try these. But, the amount of caramel made for the perfect combination of chewy and sweet heat. These are labeled hot and the more you chew, the hotter you get.
Lastly, we tried the Glowing Embers which are candied strips of Carolina Reaper peppers dipped in sweet dark chocolate. By the way, the Carolina Reaper is known as one of the hottest peppers in the world. Needless to say, some of us were already sweating because we were so scared to try these., These are labeled Extremely Hot and were just that. Go ahead and get a glass of milk on standby for these.
