See “Steel Magnolias” live on stage

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - Forget the Tennessee Valley, we’re headed to Natchitoches, Louisiana! That’s where the iconic story,Steel Magnolias” takes place.

Theatre Huntsville wants to introduce you, or reintroduce you, to a group of women who are delicate as magnolias but as strong as steel. “Steel Magnolias” follows friends Shelby, Ouiser, Truvy, Clairee, Annelle and M’Lynn as they go through the hardships and celebrations life often brings.

The play was written in 1987, just a couple of years before it was turned into a movie that we all know as a cult classic starring household names like Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton and many more.

Many scenes take place in Truvy’s Beauty Spot where the women sit and talk while making sure their hair is high enough to reach Heaven. In order to really seal the deal for this show, the actresses who portray hairdressers received training from a professional hairstylist to make the scenes, and the hairstyles, more realistic.

I’m sure most of us are ready for a good laugh during the cold days of winter, so wrap up in your best coat, grab your best gal pals and head to Theatre Huntsville!

You have multiple opportunities to see this show from January 14-16 and again from January 20-22. You can find more information and get tickets at https://www.theatrehsv.org/.
