Local business brings a piece of ‘Downton Abbey’ to North Alabama

Owner of Della’s Kitchen talks about how to throw a bash like the Brits

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - Fancy a cuppa? Ashley Erickson, owner of Della’s Kitchen, stopped by the TVL kitchen to bring the vibes from across the pond right to our area!

She came just in time for the release of ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale,’ which is hitting theaters this week to wrap up the iconic show.

Erickson dished on the Mason Cash dishware that is very popular across the UK and how you can get some of your own by shopping with her!

She also shared a recipe for a British snack- Egg and Cress sandwiches.

The recipe is as follows:

Ingredients:

· 6 hard-boiled eggs

· 1/4 cup mayonnaise

· 8 slices of white bread

· 3 tablespoons butter, softened

· pinch salt

· pinch pepper

· 2 bunches garden cress

With instructions as follows:

1. Peel and chop the boiled eggs.

2. Slice the crusts off the bread.

3. Put all the chopped egg pieces in a medium bowl.

4. Mix the egg pieces with mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.

5. Line each bread piece with butter.

6. Fill each sandwich with egg mix and a layer of garden cress.

7. Slice each square into two triangles.

8. Serve immediately. You can also store it in the refrigerator (covered) for 1-2 days.
