DECATUR, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - There’s something special about a music group whose sound feels effortless—like it was always meant to exist. That’s precisely the energy Decatur-based band Neon Avenue brings to the stage, and now, to this edition of ‘Sounds of the Valley’!
Band members, Kris Hall, Joey Smith, Trip Carpenter, Conner McDaniel, and the band’s manager, Campbell Brashier, sat down to talk about the band’s journey so far together and where the road is taking them.
The story of Neon Avenue began on a school campus, where the band’s members first crossed paths. What started as casual jam sessions between friends quickly turned into something greater.
Their natural chemistry made playing together feel less like practice and more like discovery. That spark became the foundation of their band—and now, it remains one of their biggest strengths as they grow together as a group.
As Neon Avenue navigates the highs and lows of the music scene, their connection off-stage is just as important as the music they create.

A big part of their creative journey unfolds at Clearwave Studios in Decatur. The band describes the studio as more than just a recording space—it’s where their ideas come to life. With the right tools and atmosphere, Clearwave has helped Neon Avenue refine its sound while challenging the band to try new ones.
This new chapter is about more than just music; it’s about growth. Neon Avenue is committed to evolving while staying true to the bond that first brought them together.
The band performed the song “Know It” from their latest album, “Moving Forward”. The album was released in September 2025.
