5 reasons to visit Dollywood this Christmas

Santa’s sleigh is taking him straight to Pigeon Forge

5 reasons to go to Dollywood this Christmas Dollywood Public Relations Manager Ellen Liston joined TVL Host Payton Walker to discuss why Pigeon Forge is the place to be this holiday season.

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - Santa called up the folks at TVL to dish out five reasons why you should experience the magic at Dollywood this Christmas, and each one has us wanting to book a trip faster than you can say “Santa’s got a brand new bag.”

1) Six Million Lights - That’s right. We don’t recommend counting them, but just know a display like this takes months of prep. “Christmas in July is really a thing because [of when] we start,” says Public Relations Manager Ellen Liston.

2) Shows - Colder weather certainly means you’ll need a warm-up, so good thing Dollywood has plenty of indoor entertainment. “You can go see ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, which is this fun production that might include some mice!”

3) S’mores - We know Dollywood is known for its cinnamon bread, but there’s a new treat this time of year that’s sparking interest. “There’s a new s’mores station right between the Dollywood Express Train and the Santa Experience,” says Ellen. “Several dozen yummy new holiday culinary treats... My favorite: Red Velvet Funnel Cake.”

4) Shopping - Needing a special Christmas gift for someone? “Make them a Christmas ornament at our blown glass shop,” says Ellen. “We have the concoction so you can make the ‘Ornament of Many Colors.’”

5) Snow - Did we mention you can guarantee some wintery weather? “Every night we have snow in the grove. It’s on the hour, several times a night. It’s just the power of Dolly.”
