HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - Did you know that at one point in time, Huntsville was called “The Hockey Capital of the South?” If that’s a new, fun fact for you, wait until you learn even more about how ice hockey culture has woven itself into the fabric of Huntsville history!

Local historian and podcast host Sueanne Griffith shared a crash course lesson starting from the late 1950s, when the city opened its first indoor ice rink, to the evolution of the hockey teams that have represented Huntsville over the years!
