Alabama’s first IKEA store set to open in Huntsville soon

The location’s grand opening is set for late February 2026

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - The Rocket City’s retail scene is expanding with a major new addition. IKEA is opening its doors in Huntsville starting Wednesday, February 25. The store is the first IKEA location in Alabama.

In a recent press release, the interim CEO of IKEA U.S., Rob Olson, shared his excitement for the upcoming grand opening, saying, “IKEA Huntsville reflects our dedication to serving customers where they are and providing innovative, affordable solutions that make everyday life better.”

The store is in the University Place Shopping Center at 6125 University Dr. NW in Huntsville.

The 46,000-square-foot store will showcase a wide range of products, fully furnished room settings, and other items to improve your living spaces. There will also be a central planning area for personalized design consultations.

You also get a taste of IKEA’s iconic Swedish food, including beloved menu items like meatballs, plant balls, hot dogs, veggie dogs, and more!

Grand opening festivities will kick off at 8:00 AM on February 25. The first 100 children in-store will receive soft toys, and early visitors can enjoy exciting giveaways, including IKEA products and gift cards, while supplies last.

Also, as a part of IKEA’s mission to give back, the Huntsville location is donating $10,000 to Crisis Services of North Alabama.
