HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - Springtime is approaching, and that means fresh, fruity, and floral flavors are taking over menus across the area, including at The Mason Jar Canning & Home.
Owner Cary Mason stopped by the kitchen to talk more about what she’s offering for the spring season- including lots of strawberry-flavored jams!
She also shared how to make Strawberry Freezer Jam at home.
The recipe is as follows:
- 2 cups pureed strawberries
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 (1.75-ounce) package pectin powder
- · 3/4 cup water
Instructions
- Hull strawberries and puree in a food processor.
- Stir in the sugar until dissolved, then let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Add the pectin to the water and bring to a boil.
- Once dissolved, boil for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
- Stir pectin mixture into strawberry and sugar mixture.
- Pour jam into jars and add the lid.
- Allow jars to sit at room temperature for at least 24 hours before freezing.
