COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - Being a teenager already has its struggles. When you add a tragic loss to the equation, the trajectory of a young person’s life can quickly take a downward turn. However, for one local teen, the pain of losing her father led her to find a passion that has now transformed into a thriving business.

Kendyl Orr, a 14-year-old Colbert County High School freshman and founder of Sweets by Ken, and her mother, Chasity Puryear, stopped by the kitchen to share more about the business’s backstory and to give TVL Host Payton Walker a taste of what sweet sips they’re serving up!
Orr’s mother surprised her recently with her own food truck so that she can take her treats across the area with ease as the two show up for local events across The Valley!
The mother-daughter duo is a shining example of how you can still find the light even after life’s darkest moments.
