Keeping a legacy alive through Dustin’s Promise

How one family is spreading light after life’s darkest moment

Dustin's Promise is helping families impacted by cancer

FLORENCE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - A family who suffered a heavy loss is now looking to bring a ray of hope to the lives of others going through similar circumstances.

John Hamm, founder of Dustin’s Promise, stopped by the studio to share the mission of the non-profit group named in his brother’s memory. Dustin Hamm was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma as a child. Sadly, in 1999, he passed away after battling that aggressive form of cancer just before what would have been his 6th birthday.

Now, his brother John keeps his name and memory alive through the work done with Dustin’s Promise. The group’s mission is to offer practical, financial, and emotional support to families that have children with a cancer diagnosis.

John also gave details about the upcoming Dustin Ryan Hamm Memorial Golf Tournament happening on June 13, 2026. You can find more information about sponsorships and registering a team online.
