Reach Out and Read Alabama Reach Out and Read Alabama celebrates 20 years of reading

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (TENNESSEE VALLEY LIVING) - For 20 years, Reach Out and Read Alabama has helped build brighter futures one book at a time. As the organization celebrates its milestone anniversary with the theme “20 years of reading. A lifetime of impact”, leaders, healthcare professionals and families across the state are reflecting on two decades of empowering children through early literacy.

Part of the national Reach Out and Read network, Reach Out and Read Alabama works directly with pediatric healthcare providers to promote reading aloud as a critical part of healthy child development. Doctors and nurses give age-appropriate books to children and encourage parents to make reading a daily routine at home.

Since its launch in Alabama, the program has reached thousands of children and families, helping improve language development, school readiness, and family bonding through the simple act of sharing stories together.

As the organization marks 20 years of service, the celebration is not only about reflecting on the past, but it’s also about continuing the mission to ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up with books, language, and the joy of reading.
