HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Tennessee Valley showed up in a big way for Gray Media’s “Star-Spangled Sing-off” in May.
WAFF 48 received dozens of entries for this contest, which featured talented singers and their a cappella renditions of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Out of all the contestants, Bobby Winston has been selected to advance to the next round!
The contest was part of Gray’s “We The People” initiative celebrating America’s 250th birthday ahead of July 4, 2026.
The overall contest’s winner will get an all-expenses-paid trip to Nashville to film a performance that will air on WAFF 48 and all other Gray Media stations across the U.S.

Thousands of you cast your ballot earlier this month for a Tennessee Valley singer to move on to the next round and face off against seven other singers in a regional vote.
You can vote for our local winner at waff.com/contests starting at 7 p.m. Thursday. Regional voting ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 28.
Following the Regional Voting Period, a panel of Gray Media employees will review the entry videos of the four Regional Winners and select one final winner based on the Committee’s subjective judgment of overall singing quality and vocal performance.
The Final Winner will be notified by Gray Media on or before 5 p.m. ET on July 3, 2026, via the contact information provided at the time of entry.
